Nora Aunor Brings Her Legendary Dress to Pinoy Pawnstars

NORA AUNOR – The Superstar recently visited Boss Toyo of Pinoy Pawnstars, bringing with her the dress she wore when she won Tawag ng Tanghalan in 1967.

Dubbed the ‘Superstar,’ Nora is a highly acclaimed actress, singer, and film producer who has significantly impacted Filipino entertainment since the 1970s. She was born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor on May 21, 1953, in Iriga, Camarines Sur. Nora rose to fame after winning the Tawag ng Tanghalan singing competition in 1967, showcasing her powerful voice and captivating the public.

Over the years, Nora has won numerous acting awards and starred in some of the most iconic Filipino films, such as Himala (1982), Bona (1980), Thy Womb (2012), and Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos (1976). Her work has received international recognition, with Himala even being honored as one of the best Asian films of all time.

In 2022, Nora was named a National Artist for Film, one of the Philippines’ highest honors for her contributions to cinema. Known for portraying complex, emotionally driven characters, Nora has a lasting influence in Filipino culture, inspiring generations of artists.

Recently, the Superstar visited Boss Toyo, bringing with her the dress she wore when she won Tawag ng Tanghalan in 1967. This dress, marking the start of her career, holds great value, and Boss Toyo estimated it to be worth at least five million pesos. However, Nora, also known as Ate Guy, made it clear that the dress was not for sale, as she plans to place it in a museum.

During the visit, Nora asked Boss Toyo for help for her fellow Bicolanos affected by Tropical Storm Kristine. Moved by her request, Boss Toyo donated 250,000 pesos and promised to send relief goods to flood-hit areas. He expressed his respect for Nora and said it was an honor to meet her in person. Nora also signed the dress, making it a special addition to his collection.

Meanwhile, Pinoy Pawnstars announced plans to open a museum displaying items from famous Filipino personalities, including Francis Magalona, Niño Muhlach, April Boy Regino, Chito Miranda, Jiro Manio, and Daniel Padilla, with Nora’s dress expected to be a highlight.
