UNEXPECTED SURPRISE – After living in New Zealand for more than a decade, Peter Paul Paterno decided to return to the Philippines to surprise his grandmother. This heartwarming reunion, however, took an unexpected turn when the elderly woman mistook her long-lost grandson for a thief.
In a video shared by PaterknowsTV via GMA News, Peter, who came from New Zealand, can be seen approaching his grandmother, who was busy sweeping outside. Excited to finally see her after ten long years, he chose not to introduce himself right away, intending to give her a memorable surprise. However, his plan didn’t go as smoothly as he expected. The grandmother, unsure of who the approaching stranger was, became suspicious.
Without recognizing her grandson, she questioned who he was and felt increasingly threatened by his presence. In an amusing yet tense moment, she raised her broomstick and attempted to hit Peter, mistaking him for a possible intruder.
In an effort to avoid the broomstick, Peter stepped back and quickly removed his mask, revealing his face to his grandmother. It was only after seeing his face that the elderly woman realized it was her beloved grandson standing in front of her. The confusion quickly turned into joy as she dropped the broom and rushed to hug him, resulting in a touching reunion.
This sweet yet humorous moment captured the emotions of both Peter and his grandmother, highlighting the bond they shared despite the long separation. The viral video has since touched many viewers, who found the unexpected twist both funny and heartwarming. After a decade apart, Peter’s surprise may not have gone exactly as planned, but it led to a memorable and emotional reunion nonetheless.
