Funeral Parlor Addresses Criticism Regarding Liam Payne Mock Wake Arrangement
FUNERARIA DE STO. ROSARIO, INC. – The funeral parlor that faced backlash from netizens over a mock wake setup featuring a portrait of Liam Payne has spoken out.
An allegedly devoted fan of One Direction made headlines for “organizing” a mock wake to pay tribute to Liam. In a social media post, the user GRSB shared her preparations, which included a casket, flowers, and a large portrait of Liam.
She expressed her feelings about being unable to attend his actual wake by saying, “Yung hindi ka makapunta sa lamay ni Liam kaya nagpagawa ka ng sarili mong lamay.” The event was open to other fans, known as Directioners. However, the mock wake faced criticism from some netizens, including fellow One Direction fans who deemed it inappropriate.
Funeraria de Sto. Rosario, Inc. clarified that the setup was just part of their promotion for their “Deluxe Service Package.” Representatives from the funeral home emphasized that the arrangement was not intended to mock a funeral for Liam Payne but was merely a sample setup for their services. JM Bautista-Roxas stated, “To clear things up, this is just a sample setup for a funeral service. No hate, thanks.” She reiterated that it was not a funeral for Liam but a demonstration of their offerings.
The former One Direction member was found dead after a tragic fall from the third floor of CasaSur, a hotel in Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Authorities are currently investigating whether the incident, which occurred on the afternoon of October 16, 2024, was accidental or intentional.
Liam is survived by his seven-year-old son, Bear Grey, whom he shares with singer Cheryl Cole. Despite openly discussing his struggles with addiction and mental health issues in a 2021 interview, his death has left the music world and his fans mourning the loss of the 31-year-old artist.
