Dubai Princess Unveils “Divorce” Perfume Two Months Following Her Divorce Announcement
SHEIKHA MAHRA – The princess of Dubai launched a perfume line called “Divorce,” two months after announcing her divorce from her husband, Sheikh Mana Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, on Instagram.
Mahra, 30, is the daughter of Dubai’s ruler and UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Her divorce was notable as she used a controversial practice common in some Muslim countries, where a man states “I divorce you” three times to initiate an instant divorce, a practice usually started by men.
On July 17, 2024, Mahra posted a heartfelt message on Instagram to announce her divorce, saying, “As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, and I Divorce You.” Following this life change, she decided to turn her experience into a business venture by launching her personal care line, which includes a perfume, hair spray, body spray, and powder, all under the Divorce brand.
The prices for her products range from 1,000 AED (PHP 15,300) for the perfume to 604 AED (PHP 9,200) for the hair and body spray, and 716 AED (PHP 11,000) for the powder. They can be ordered through her official website.
Reactions from netizens have been mixed. Some criticized the name “Divorce,” calling it bitter and vengeful, while others found humor in the idea, suggesting it could be a funny gift for couples thinking about divorce. Supporters of the product line praised Mahra for her independence and creativity, with some even saying they plan to buy multiple items from the collection.
Many female netizens expressed their admiration for Mahra, seeing her actions as a strong statement about women’s rights to make their own choices, insisting that women should support each other in their decisions, whether in marriage or divorce.
