Cristy Fermin on Willie Revillame’s Political Ambitions
CRISTY FERMIN – The entertainment columnist expressed her doubts about Willie Revillame’s entry into politics, questioning his motives and readiness.
In the October 10 episode of Cristy Ferminute, Cristy commented on Willie’s sudden filing of his Certificate of Candidacy (CoC) for the 2025 midterm elections, emphasizing that he seemed to be entering politics without a clear plan other than to entertain and help the poor.
After he filed, reporters asked Willie about the laws he intended to support, but he replied that he shouldn’t be rushed since he had just submitted his candidacy. This response surprised many, including Cristy and her co-host Romel Chika, as they felt he was the only candidate appearing uncertain about his plans. Cristy challenged Willie’s approach, asking, “bakit ka pumasok?” and criticized him for not having a concrete plan.
Willie often claims that his main goal is to help the needy, especially the elderly. Cristy questioned this claim, highlighting that many older individuals lack access to medicine and food. She stressed that Willie’s public image as a generous entertainer might not lead to effective laws, asking, “asan ang batas bakit hindi ka nakahanda?”
Cristy also pointed out that Willie has made bold statements, such as claiming he doesn’t need money and isn’t a thief, which could create enemies for him even before the campaign starts. She questioned the honesty of these claims, wondering who can genuinely say they don’t need money.
Additionally, Romel Chika mentioned that Willie believes he can skip Congress and go directly to President Bongbong Marcos for law approval, suggesting a misunderstanding of the political process. As the conversation continued, Cristy and Romel wondered whether Willie’s tired appearance might explain his vague responses. They concluded by expressing anticipation for Willie’s upcoming plans, hoping for more meaningful suggestions from him.
