Dela Rosa Speaks on Baste Duterte Possible Bid for Senator

BASTE DUTERTE – Senator Bato dela Rosa claimed that Baste Duterte’s requirement to run for senator is for his father, Rodrigo, to run for mayor in Davao.

The filing of candidacies for the May 2025 Midterm Election is currently ongoing. Several political aspirants and incumbent politicians have already filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for next year’s election. Currently, several Duterte supporters await if the previous statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will push through.

Vice Pres. Duterte said that three (3) Dutertes will run for senator in the May 2025 Election. According to Vice Pres. Duterte, her dad Rodrigo and brothers Paolo and Baste will run for senator in next year’s election as per an information from her mother.

Neither former Pres. Duterte or any of his sons denied or confirmed the claim of the Vice President. As of this writing, none from the Duterte family has filed his/her senatorial bid.

Recently, Sen. Bato dela Rosa who is seeking for re-election in the Senate spoke on the alleged requirement of Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte in running for senator. Based on a report on GMA News, Dela Rosa claimed that the younger Duterte wants the former President to run for mayor in Davao.

“Ang requirement lang niya is dapat si President Duterte ang tatakbong mayor ng Davao pero mukhang ‘di pa na-finalize,” Dela Rosa said.

Davao Mayor Baste Duterte recently joined the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, the political party of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Sen. Bato dela Rosa is one of the candidates under the Marcos senatorial slate.

The administration’s bets for senators are coming from different parties. Five (5) major political parties in the Philippines formed a grand alliance. They are the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) which is the political party of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the Lakas-CMD, the National Unity Party, the Nationalist People’s Coalition, and the Nacionalista Party.
