He urges people to cherish their parents while they still have the chance, expressing that they are irreplaceable. Arnel, who lost his mother at the age of 13 due to illness, recalls the profound impact that loss had on his family, which also resulted in significant debt.
He reflects on how easy it is to take parents for granted, saying, “Iisa lang ang nanay at tatay.” Arnel advises against waiting until it’s too late, warning that parents can be lost in an instant. He encourages everyone to express love and gratitude to their parents now, so there are no regrets later.

Arnel’s heartfelt message resonated with many, particularly parents, who praised his words. Meanwhile, Arnel Pineda is a singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the American rock band Journey. His early life was marked by hardship, particularly after losing his mother to heart disease at the age of 13, which left his family in debt. To support his family, he dropped out of school and worked various odd jobs, including collecting recyclables.
Pineda’s music career began in the early 1980s when he joined the Filipino band Ijos, later forming groups like Amo and New Age. He gained recognition in the Philippines, performing at various venues and competitions. In 2007, he caught the attention of Journey’s guitarist Neal Schon through performances on YouTube and was invited to audition for the band. Pineda officially joined Journey in December 2007 and made his debut with them in February 2008.
