Spokersperson of AFP Speaks on VP Sara Duterte’s Claim against Pres. Marcos
AFP – The Armed Forces of the Philippines confirmed the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that a graduate asked for Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ watch.
It is no secret to the public that the relationship between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has become sour. There were several recent incidents when the Vice President had striking statements against the Chief Executive.
In her recent press conference, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte gave Pres. Bongbong Marcos a “one rating” when asked to rate the performance of the Chief Executive as president from 1-10 with 10 as the highest. According to her, it is not her fault if the chief executive does not know how to be a president.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed she told Sen. Imee Marcos that she will throw the body of Marcos Sr. into the West Philippine Sea if the alleged attacks against her don’t stop. Malacañang remains mum on the tirades against the President.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, there was an instance when she realized that her relationship with Pres. Marcos has become toxic. The Vice President claimed that it was when she and Marcos attended a graduation rates. She did not go into details as to which graduation event they attended.
Recently, the Armed Forces of the Philippines confirmed the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on GMA News, AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla said that a graduate during the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) during the graduation ceremony in May asked for the watch of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
According to the AFP Spokesperson, the said action is an “isolated case that does not reflect the overall cultureand training of the academy”. She stressed that the cadet committed a mistake in front of the President and the behavior “is neither common nor acceptable”.
The AFP Spokesperson said that the PMA took an immediate action upon knowing about the action of the cadet in front of the Chief Executive. Based on the report, he was not dismissed but the cadet was assigned to the Philippine Air Force.
During the press con, Vice Pres. Duterte claimed that it was when she realized that her relationship with the President has become toxic as she had ill thoughts against Marcos after the incident. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also reacted to the “deception” remarks of Pres. Marcos on their “friendship”.
