Valenzuela Court Permits Ex-Mayor Alice Guo To Attend Senate Investigation

Dismissed Mayor Alice Guo Approved To Attend Senate Investigation

ALICE GUO – A Valenzuela court has granted permission for Alice Guo to participate in the Senate committee on women’s investigation set for Tuesday.

The ex-mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, who is accused of unlawful participation in POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators), was turned over to Philippine authorities following her arrest in Indonesia. Authorities in Indonesia found her at a rented apartment and then took her into custody.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is currently in charge of the 34-year-old politician. She was initially intended to be under Senate custody, but a graft case brought against her in Tarlac altered that. Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Boying Remulla thinks she ought to be in the custody of the Bureau of Immigration.

Based on a report from Inquirer, a Valenzuela court authorized Alice Guo to attend the Senate committee on women’s investigation on Tuesday.

The Valenzuela Regional Trial Court Branch 282 granted Guo, also known as Chinese national Guo Hua Ping, permission to appear before the Senate committee hearing on September 17, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at the request of Senator Risa Hontiveros, the head of the panel, according to an order made public to the media on Monday afternoon.

“Acting on the letter request of Senate committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality, and recognizing the Senate’s power to conduct inquiries in aid of legislation, accused Alice Guo a.k.a Guo Hua Ping is hereby allowed to attend the joint public hearing of the committee on women, children, family relations and gender equality on September 17, 2024, at 9:00 o’clock in the morning,” the order reads.

“The Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Facility is hereby directed to bring accused Alice Guo a.k.a Guo Hua Ping to the said public hearing,” it adds.
