JESSY MENDIOLA – The actress revealed that she and her husband, Luis Manzano, almost broke up one year after getting married.
On September 8, 2024, during a “Truth or Dare” segment on her YouTube vlog with Luis, Jessy talked about how they almost broke up due to issues with Luis’s friends. Soon after their wedding, Jessy noticed that some of Luis’s friends seemed to have bad intentions and expressed her concerns to him. Instead of supporting her, Luis defended his friends, which led to a lot of stress between them. Jessy felt that these friends were harming their relationship and destabilizing their family.
“Kakakasal lang namin non actually, mga one year pa lang kaming kasal noon. Kinasal kami, tapos the next day, inaway-away ako nung tao na yon. Kaya pala galit na galit siya sa akin kasi may tinatago pala siyang sikretong karumal-dumal, na malala. So, doon ko naamoy na parang, ‘May something itong taong ito. Bakit galit na galit siya na kinasal kami?'” she said.
As things worsened, Jessy sought advice from Luis’s mother, Vilma Santos. Vilma suggested that Jessy think carefully before making any final decisions. Although Jessy felt overwhelmed and considered ending the relationship, she chose to stay with Luis because of her love for him and their commitment to each other.
Eventually, Luis understood Jessy’s concerns and apologized after a few days. Jessy felt relieved when the truth about Luis’s friends was revealed, even though it caused considerable problems in their lives. The situation was especially tough for Jessy as she was also dealing with postpartum issues.
Now, three years into their marriage, Jessy and Luis have a one-year-old daughter named Rosie. Jessy did not provide details about Luis’s friends or the exact nature of the problems. However, Luis’s name was connected to complaints against Flex Fuel Petroleum Corporation in early 2023. The National Bureau of Investigation later confirmed that Luis was not involved in the case.
Despite these challenges, Jessy and Luis have continued to strengthen their relationship and remain committed to each other.
