Doc Willie Ong Sets the Record Straight on Rumors About Cassandra Ong
Doc Willie Ong – The prominent doctor-vlogger has publicly addressed a misinformation issue involving Cassandra Ong, a 24-year-old businesswoman linked to the controversy surrounding “illegal” Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in Porac, Pampanga.
Doc Willie clarified that he is not related to Cassandra and emphasized that there are thousands of people with the last name Ong in the Philippines. He vehemently denied accusations of being a drug lord, calling the claims “fake news” and asserting his integrity.
In a Facebook post, he urged TV5/News 5 to correct their report that erroneously labeled him as a drug lord, stating, “This is not Doc Willie Ong, the candidate. Hindi po ako yon.” He expressed frustration over the negative attention he has received due to their reporting, asking the network to issue a disclaimer to avoid further confusion among the public.
Doc Willie also revealed that he is currently battling “sarcoma,” a rare and aggressive type of cancer, and is undergoing chemotherapy in Singapore.
Meanwhile, Doc Willie Ong is a cardiologist, internist, media personality, and political figure. He is well-known for providing medical advice through his social media platforms, particularly on his YouTube channel, which has garnered over 9.5 million subscribers. He is also recognized for his candidacy in the Philippine Senate elections in 2019 and his role as a vice presidential candidate in the 2022 elections, where he ran alongside Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Ong completed his medical education at the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute and later earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of the Philippines Manila. He has held various medical positions, including chief resident in internal medicine and chief fellow in cardiology. He is the author of several medical books and has contributed to various health programs on television and radio.
