Revilla, who comes from a renowned family, is the son of former actor and senator Ramon Revilla Sr., and has built his own successful career in both fields, much like his father.

His political career began in the 1990s, when he first served as vice governor of Cavite in 1995. He was later elected governor in 1998, serving until 2001. Throughout his multiple terms in the Senate, he has focused on legislation concerning health, education, and public safety.
In 2014, Revilla was implicated in the Pork Barrel Scam, accused of diverting public funds. This led to his detention for nearly four years, but he was acquitted of plunder charges in 2018. Despite the controversy, Revilla returned to politics and was re-elected to the Senate in 2019.
On the personal front, Revilla is married to actress and politician Lani Mercado, with whom he shares six children. The entire family is deeply involved in both politics and entertainment, continuing the legacy of the Revilla name.
