Mocha Uson Rumored to Run as Congresswoman in Manila
MOCHA USON – The social media personality and former Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications Group is reportedly planning to run for Congress in Manila under the ticket of former Mayor Isko Moreno.
Mocha Uson, whose real name is Esther Margaux Justiniano Uson, is a controversial figure known for her work as a singer, actress, dancer, model, political blogger, and public official. She initially gained fame as the lead vocalist of the all-female music group Mocha Girls, known for their provocative performances. However, she later became widely known for her political involvement, particularly her strong support for former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Uson has served in various government positions, including as a member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), Assistant Secretary for Social Media at the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), and Deputy Administrator of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Her appointments were often met with public criticism, largely due to her controversial statements and the spread of fake news and misinformation through her popular blog, which earned her the nickname “Queen of Fake News.” Throughout her career, Uson has been involved in numerous controversies, including promoting disinformation, making offensive remarks, and facing criticism for her administrative competence.
Mocha Uson is reportedly planning to run for Congress in Manila under the ticket of former Mayor Isko Moreno. This development was revealed through a post by Byron Cristobal, which showed Uson posing with Moreno, who aims to reclaim his position as Manila’s mayor. If Uson proceeds with her congressional bid, she would be competing against Congressman Joel Respall Chua, a known critic of Vice President Sara Duterte, in District 3.
Meanwhile, Moreno is expected to face off against the current mayor and his former ally, Honey Lacuna. As of now, Uson has not yet confirmed whether she will pursue the congressional seat.
