The incident, which occurred on April 18, 2024, at a gymnasium in Brgy. Batis, San Juan City, quickly gained attention online. The video captures Estrada confronting a woman who was reportedly a local official in San Juan City.
In the video, tensions rose as Estrada pointed at the woman during their conversation. The woman responded by telling the senator not to be rude and to speak respectfully, adding that his position as a senator did not give him the right to act improperly. “Huwag niyo akong hino-hoy. Porke senador kayo?” the woman said.
According to a netizen who commented on the video, the argument occurred when Estrada visited the gymnasium, which was serving as an evacuation center for fire victims. The woman, who was among the local officials present, had requested that Estrada postpone his visit because it was late at night. However, Estrada insisted on proceeding with the visit, leading to the confrontation.
In response to the viral video and the backlash he received, Estrada released an official statement on August 23, 2024, explaining the situation from his perspective. He clarified that his visit was intended to inform the fire victims that he would be distributing cash assistance the following day. Estrada, a former mayor of San Juan City, stated that his staff had spent hours negotiating with local officials to gain entry and coordinate the aid distribution, but they were denied access.

Frustrated by the lack of cooperation, Estrada decided to visit the site himself. He defended his actions, stating that as a senator, he must help those in need, especially during times of tragedy.
