Truth Behind the Viral Woman in Siargao and Her Foreigner Boyfriend
MARNIE HOLLIE – A woman who went viral after supposedly moving on from heartbreak and finding new love with a foreigner in Siargao, has clarified the truth behind the story.
Marnie explained that the man in the photos, TJ Hollie, is her husband, not a newfound lover. They met on a dating app in 2016, got engaged in November 2018, and married in March 2019. The viral photos were taken during their vacation in Siargao in 2019.
Marnie emphasized that the memes circulating about her moving on from heartbreak are false. She stated that she and TJ have always been happy together and were simply enjoying their holiday when the photos were taken. They had a civil wedding in the US in March 2019, followed by a second wedding in the Philippines in August 2023. The couple is now expecting a baby girl in October 2024.
Marnie addressed the false stories in a Facebook post and an interview with Balita, saying, “Just to clarify, Tj and I met online (Skout) in 2016. I was already an immigrant here (since 2011). He proposed in November 2018 and we went on a holiday trip to the Philippines December 2018. We had a civil wedding in March 2019 here in the US and we got married again in the Philippines last year (August 2023). Lastly we are now expecting a baby girl in October 2024. I wasn’t moving on from a heartbreak.”
She also humorously remarked that her husband is more handsome than the other foreigners in Siargao. Marnie urged people to stop spreading false stories just to gain attention.
Inspired by Marnie’s story, some netizens expressed interest in using dating apps to find their own foreign partners, expressing their wishes and hinting at plans to download dating apps to find their forever foreigner.
