Vice Ganda Speaks on Viral Issue Involving Showtime Searchee Axel Cruz
VICE GANDA – The main host of Showtime retracted his apology to “EXpecially For You” searchee Axel Cruz over the “nakaw na halik” issue.
An instance in one of the latest episodes of the Showtime segment “EXpecially For You” went viral and gathered different reactions from the netizens. Countless Filipinos are watching the daily episode of the segment and many of its episodes usually hook the attention of the viewers.
In one of its recent episodes, Maria Christine appeared as the Showtime searcher. She was with her ex-boyfriend, Derrick, and there are three (3) searchees. One of the searchees was Axel Cruz but he was not chosen by the searcher of the episode.
When he was asked to give Christine a parting message, Axel approached her with a high-five. He also leaned closer to her which appeared like he was about to steal a kiss from her so Showtime host Vice Ganda immediately called him out.
Vice Ganda told Axel that it should not be done and he must ask the permission of the girl. The said happening in “EXpecially for You” gained different reactions from the netizens and the viewers. The Showtime searchee also earned bashing from some netizens.
In a post, Axel Cruz explained and claimed that what he was about to do was a “brocode”. He stressed that he did not intend to steal a kiss from her. He also apologized if she got surprised by what he did. Christine also released a video defending the Showtime searchee. According to her, what she felt was he maybe wanted to give her a hug as she was emotional.
After both the Showtime searcher and searchee have released statements, Vice Ganda was quick to apologize for his reaction. However, after a few days, the main host of the show retracted his apology.
Vice Ganda explained that he was able to talk to Axel Cruz. There were also talks among the Showtime hosts, staff, the unit head, the management, the producers, and a psychologist and they were able to talk to Christine as well. According to the mainstay host of the show, the searcher admitted that she really felt off during the segment.
Thus, Vice believes that there is no need for an apology as they did the right thing. He stressed that it is the right of a woman to refuse or react from any action of another person that makes her feel uncomfortable. He also explained that as the main host, it was his job to make an action to protect the guest of the show.
Meanwhile, in the case of Axel, the Showtime host assured that he took the lesson from what happened and he must be given the chance to learn from it. The Unkabogable Star is asking the public to stop from bashing the Showtime searcher as well as the searchee from what happened.
