VP Sara Duterte Says 3 Dutertes Will Run for Senator in 2025
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President confirmed that her father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and her brothers, Paolo and Baste, will run for senator.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte sparked headlines after she resigned from being the DepEd Secretary. Aside from leaving her post as the chief of the Department of Education, she also resigned as the vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
Currently, there are a lot of speculations if Vice President Duterte will run for the presidency in the next national elections. The recent resignation of the Vice President from the cabinet of Pres. Bongbong Marcos triggered the speculations about the political plans of the Vice President.
Marcos accepted the resignation of the Vice President from being the DepEd Secretary and the vice chairperson of the NTFLAC. She did not reveal the reason behind her decision to leave the Cabinet of the President.
“Mga kababayan, ang aking pagbibitiw ay hindi lulan ng kahinaan kundi dala ng tunay na malasakit para sa ating mga guro at kabataang Pilipino,” the Vice President said.
Recently, in an interview in Cagayan de Oro, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announced that three (3) Dutertes are set to run for senator in the 2025 Midterm Elections. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President confirmed the senatorial bid of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his sons, Davao City First District Representative Paolo Duterte, and Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte.
According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her father and her brothers are ready to run for the senatorial race in the next midterm elections.
“Tatlo ang Duterte next year… yes, confirmed ‘yan,” the Vice President said.
The Duterte is one of the political clans in the Philippines. Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has served as the Chief Executive of the country from 2016 until 2022. Prior to it, he has served the city of Davao as its mayor and vice mayor for several decades.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has also served as the mayor of Davao City prior to her winning in the vice presidential race. Then, Baste Duterte was the vice mayor of her elder sister.
