Imelda Papin Responds To Critics Following Appointment To PCSO
IMELDA PAPIN – Singer-turned-politician Imelda Papin addressed her critics after Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) appointment.
Singer Imelda Papin met with the entertainment press in Quezon City last Saturday to discuss her new role as an acting member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). She expressed gratitude for the opportunity, emphasizing the importance of accepting blessings and showcasing generosity.
Papin believes President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed her based on her track record of helping fellow Filipinos, a commitment she has maintained since her time as vice governor. She views her new role as a chance to continue aiding those in need.
Imelda Papin said, “Blessing ‘yan sa akin. Kapag may dumarating na blessing, huwag mong tanggihan para ipakita mo ang puso mo.”
“Siguro inisip ni Presidente na kaya kong gampanan ang position. I’ve been doing this. Kahit noon pa, talagang gusto kong tumulong sa ating mga kababayan. Since naging bise gobernador ako, ‘yun na talaga ang aking ginagawa.”
Imelda Papin recalled her reaction upon receiving the call about her appointment, expressing joy and gratitude, seeing it as an opportunity to further her charitable efforts. Regarding her responsibilities, she mentioned being one of five directors overseeing program approval and stated her intention to familiarize herself with the role upon starting work. She plans to introduce herself to PCSO employees officially on Monday.
Reflecting on her background in public service and her desire to make a positive impact, Papin addressed critics, asserting her worthiness for the position based on the trust placed in her by the President. She remains undeterred by criticism, drawing strength from her resilience in the face of challenges in both showbiz and public service.
Papin’s message to her critics: “Okay lang ‘yun. Unang-una, ‘yung binigay sa akin ng tiwala ng Pangulo, hindi naman siguro ibibigay sa akin ‘yan kung hindi ko deserve ‘yan…”
“Malakas ang loob ko. I face anyone. Sanay na sanay ako sa intriga sa showbiz. I always give my smile sa criticisms,” she added.
In this sit-down interview, ABS-CBN News also asked Papin for her thoughts on people who don’t take celebrities seriously, taking government roles.
When asked about the perception of celebrities in government roles, Papin emphasized the need for seriousness and pointed out her clean record and commitment to upholding her integrity. She also announced her successor at the Actors Guild of the Philippines and her plans to continue supporting the organization while honoring stalwarts of the film industry through upcoming awards.
She said, “They better take it seriously this time. Kasi ako naman, wala naman kayong narinig na involved ako sa corruption or mga away. Wala naman. Inalagaan ko po ang aking pangalan. Nilagay ako ng Diyos sa tugatog ng tagumpay. I came from a very poor place and then tinulungan ako ng pamilya ko. And sa fans ko na sumuporta sa akin.”
