Social media personality Diwata received an award
DIWATA – The social media personality reached another milestone after being hailed as ‘Social Media Influencer of the Year’ by Asia’s Golden Icon Awards.
Deo Jarito Balbuena, popularly known as “Diwata,” is a Filipino internet personality, food vlogger, entrepreneur, and member of the LGBTQ+ community. He is the CEO and founder of Diwata Pares Overload, a food business specializing in a popular Filipino dish called pares.
Born and raised in Samar, Balbuena moved to Manila at 17 to seek better opportunities. He worked various jobs, including fruit vendor, helper, construction worker, beautician, and sari-sari store owner, before gaining initial fame through the ‘Miss Q&A’ segment on the TV show ‘It’s Showtime.’
Balbuena went viral in 2016 due to an incident at a police station where he reported acquaintances for using illegal drugs, leading to a physical altercation and media attention. Despite being arrested in 2018 for a slight physical injury case and released on bail, he continued to gain recognition.
His popularity was further boosted by his appearance in Coco Martin’s TV series on ABS-CBN, “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.” Balbuena’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a celebrated internet personality and entrepreneur showcases his resilience and ability to overcome challenges while making a significant impact in his field.

The pares vendor took to the social networking site Facebook, where he shared his achievement while posing for a photo with actress Ara Mina and two other women.
