Male Teacher Reunites w/ Disabled Student
An elementary school teacher was reunited with his former student with a leg disability, “So proud of you anak ko, maggagraduate kana”.
The male educator identified as Sunday Reyes was reunited with a former student with a leg disability, whom he had previously helped by bringing attention to his need for a wheelchair on social media.
Back in August 2022, Teacher Sunday and his student appealed for public assistance to get the child a wheelchair, enabling him to continue attending school. An outpouring of support followed, and the boy received the needed wheelchair.
Almost a year later, Teacher Sunday visited the boy, now noticeably bigger. He lifted the child again, just as he had done before. The difference in the boy’s size was surprising to the loving teacher.
The emotional reunion was captured in a photo comparison; the left picture from the 2022-2023 school year and the right from the current school year (2023-2024).
Although Teacher Sunday had transferred to a different school, he emphasized that he could never forget the student who inspired him to be a teacher.
The educator expressed his pride in his student’s growth and upcoming graduation. He provided the boy with a new school uniform as a graduation gift, saying, “Ang laki mo na, pagkakaiba lang sa atin, tiyan ang lumaki sa akin.”
Reyes encouraged the boy to continue his studies and thanked God for allowing him to deliver the gift despite the rain. The teacher maintains communication with both the boy and his grandmother, who serves as his guardian.

The boy is set to graduate from Grade 6 and move on to Junior High School. Sunday expressed hope for someone to come forward to help with the boy’s needed surgery. For those wishing to assist the boy, they can contact Teacher Sunday through his social media account.
