After leading an anti-Israel rally, Kim Atienza’s daughter was banned from her campus and dorm
ELIANA – The daughter of Kim Atienza, was reportedly evicted from her campus and lost access to her dormitory after participating in an anti-Israel protest at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). Eliana was among several students who were placed on mandatory leave of absence, effectively banning them from campus.
Eliana explained that the ban meant she could no longer access her on-campus housing, dining halls, or library. At 19 years old and living in a student dorm, this ban left her without a place to stay, essentially making her homeless.
“I and five other students have been taken up, been forced to take a mandatory leave of absence. But what that means is, it’s a ban on campus,” she said. “I am 19 years old, I live in a student dorm, and what that ban meant was that I couldn’t access my on-campus housing. I’ve been locked out of my dorm. I’m not allowed to access any dining hall, the library,” she added. “I live on campus. The university has barred me from entering. In other words—the university has made me houseless,” she continued.
Kim Atienza, who’s also known as Kuya Kim, expressed his support for his daughter’s activism, highlighting that the family stands by her as she fights for human rights. He clarified that Eliana’s homelessness was not due to financial issues but because she was banned from the university premises where she lived.
“The family has been very supportive of her, and since we know she is fighting for human rights. Matapang siya e,” he said. “Well, she’s not really homeless. It was taken out of context. She did not say we were poor. She was just banned from entering the school premises and removed from her dorm,” Kuya Kim stated.
