Ogie Diaz Salutes Gigi De Lana For Continuing Shows Despite Her Mother’s Passing
GIGI DE LANA – Showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz reacted after singer-actress Gigi continued her shows despite her mother’s passing.
Filipina vocalist Gigi and her band, Gigi Vibes, recently traveled overseas for their performances. However, amidst their international endeavors, Gigi harbored the hope that her mother Imelda de Lana would still be alive upon her return to the Philippines.
Gigi had disclosed that her mother was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Philippine hospital. While she didn’t mention the hospital’s name, she shared that her mother was battling for her life at that time.
Imelda de Lana was diagnosed with cancer and subsequently underwent chemotherapy. The singer disclosed her mother’s condition last year.
According to Ogie Diaz, he was impressed by the singer’a strength in dealing with her mother’s passing. Ogie learned that Gigi and her band were on a tour in Canada when she confirmed the passing of her beloved mother.
“Gusto kong hangaan, saluduhan itong si Gigi De Lana. Kasi nga ‘nung May 14 ay pumanaw ang ina ni Gigi De Lana. Kung matatandaan natin naka-confine ito e.”
According to her source, Gigi finished several shows in that country to earn the income that would cover the expenses for her mother’s medical treatment as well as her funeral arrangements.
“Talagang the show must go on. Kahit may dinaramdam, kahit may lungkot sa puso ni Gigi. Nagpaka-professional pa rin siya para walang masabi ang mga tao.”
“Pero this time wala siyang magawa kundu ituloy ang commitment. Kaya sinasaluduhan natin si Gigi ano, na alang-alang din naman sa nanay niya ‘yung kanyang ginagawa. And I’m sure, tuwang-tuwa yung nanay niya, proud na proud, dahil kahit apektado si Gigi ay hindi pa rin naman naapektuhan yung performance niya,” he added.
