YASMIEN KURDI – Kapuso actress Yasmien Kurdi shared her caesarian section birth story on social media.
Yasmien Kurdi underwent a c-section for the birth of her second child. Sharing her experience on Instagram, the GMA-7 actress posted images of the procedure and recounted her initial desire for a natural delivery, which didn’t go as planned.
She explained that after a series of tests, it was discovered that her cesarean scar was still thin after 11 years, indicating a high risk for complications. Consequently, she opted for a cesarean section on the day she went into labor to avoid potential dangers.
During the procedure, it was also revealed that the baby had a cord coil, reinforcing the decision for a cesarean section as attempting a vaginal birth after a cesarean section (VBAC) could have resulted in the need for another cesarean section.
“After series of tests nalaman namin na manipis pa din pala ang CS scar ko even after 11 years – not a good indication. ‘Di na namin itinuloy because of many high-risk possible scenarios and we opted for CS the day I labored.”
Cord coiling, where the umbilical cord wraps around the baby’s neck in the womb, can pose risks during a natural delivery.
Yasmien expressed gratitude to her medical team for their attentive care during the procedure, ensuring her and her newborn’s safety and well-being. She emphasized that a cesarean section is a life-saving procedure, and she was willing to do whatever was necessary to ensure her baby’s health and safety.
Yasmien is married to Rey Soldevilla, a commercial pilot, and they have an 11-year-old daughter named Ayesha. The couple announced their anticipation of welcoming their second child in November, later revealing that they are expecting a baby girl.
