Via billboard, a 70-year-old man from Texas looking for someone to marry
AL GILBERTI – A 70-year-old man from Sweetwater, Texas, is looking for someone to marry via a billboard.
Originally from Burlington, Vermont, and a former band promoter, Gilberti calls himself a “lonely male” who wants a woman committed to a lifelong marriage. Instead of using online dating sites, he opted for a more traditional method by putting up a large billboard in West Texas to attract potential partners. The billboard, which displays his photo and a message to single women, costs him $400 each week and even specifies that his ideal partner should enjoy karaoke.
Since the billboard was installed, Gilberti has received over 400 phone calls and 50 emails within two weeks. However, many people who contacted him seemed to think he was rich and were interested in his money. Gilberti understands why they might think that, but he avoids those who are just interested in his financial situation.
He is divorced with one child and is looking for a woman who is loyal, honest, and truly interested in a relationship. He prefers someone slim but says he doesn’t care much about looks; he believes he’ll recognize the right person when he meets her.
Gilberti is also open to finding a partner from outside the USA, showing his dedication to finding the right match. Tired of searching, he resorted to using the billboard in hopes of finding someone to marry. He has been single since 2015.
Gilberti also says he is a good listener and more open-minded compared to other people his age, who may be more set in their ways. He mentioned that he doesn’t look his age and his last partner was 26 years younger than him. He assures that he can financially support his future wife with his retirement income.
