Heated Debate Between Young Man and Mom Escalates to Physical Altercation
A young man has garnered a massive amount of criticism online for cussing and disrespecting his mom in a heated debate.
Recently, a Facebook user Atty. Orly Vicente Montalban shared video of distressing scene where a mother and her 17-year-old son engage in a heated argument that ultimately escalates to physical violence.
In the video, the mother can be seen attempting to reason with her son, who responds with insults and defiance. The situation quickly went out of control as the altercation turns physical, with both individuals grappling with each other in a display of anger and frustration.
Atty. Montalban, upon watching the video, shared his legal perspective on the matter, citing Article 220 of the Family Code which outlines the rights and duties of parents.
According to the law, parents have the right to demand respect and obedience from their children, as well as to impose discipline when necessary.
While acknowledging that there may have been shortcomings on the part of the mother in fulfilling her parental duties, Montalban emphasizes that such behavior from the son is unacceptable and goes against the fundamental values of Filipino households.
The lawyer reminds us of the biblical command to honor and respect our parents, citing Ephesians 6:1-3 as a guiding principle for familial relationships. He also urges families to strive for unity and harmony, warning of the repercussions of allowing disrespect and violence within the home.

The video may serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of fostering healthy communication and mutual respect within families. While disagreements may arise, resorting to violence and verbal abuse should never be tolerated.
