Vice Ganda Admits He Prefers To Have A Eulogy While He Is Still Alive
VICE GANDA – Unkabogable star Vice Ganda revealed that he prefers to have a eulogy while he is still alive.
A eulogy, whether spoken or written, is a tribute delivered at a funeral or memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of the deceased. Its primary purpose is to provide a heartfelt and respectful reflection on the person’s life, accomplishments, character, and the impact they had on others.
It serves as an opportunity for friends and family to come together, sharing stories and memories of the departed. Vice Ganda recently discussed the concept of eulogies on the show “It’s Showtime,” emphasizing the importance of expressing love for one another while still alive.
According to Vice Ganda, he shared this sentiment with co-host Anne Curtis, expressing a desire to receive a eulogy while they are both alive.
During the discussion, Vice mentioned that waiting until someone has passed away to express love through a eulogy might leave many unspoken feelings and expressions of love. He proposed the idea of expressing such sentiments during special occasions, like birthdays, rather than waiting until it’s too late.
According to the comedian, “Sinasabi ko nga kay Anne, e. Parang gusto kong magpa-eulogy. Sabi niya, ‘Bakit ang morbid mo?’” he said during their segment “Especially For You” on It’s Showtime last Friday, March 8.
“Hindi, kasi pag eulogy, yung namamatay, yung malalapit sa iyo na tao, pamilya mo, best friend mo, ang dami nilang sinasabing magaganda tungkol sa iyo.
“Naririnig ka pa ba nila? E, patay ka na, e. Hindi ka na nila maririnig. Bakit hindi natin sabihin sa mga espesyal na okasyon, pag birthday, di ba?
“Mag-inuman tayo, tapos saka natin sabihin yung mga gusto nating sabihin sa isa’t isa, yung masasarap sa pakiramdam.
“Bakit mag-aantay tayo ng eulogy? Kasi pag ginagawa natin yun, there are so much love left unspoken, di ba? Ang daming pagmamahal na hindi nasasabi. Tapos, sasabihin na lang pag kailan patay?
“Bakit hindi natin sasabihin pag birthday, di ba…pangkaraniwang okasyon. Kasi nga hindi natin hawak ang bukas.
“So dahil hindi natin alam kung masasabi pa natin ito bukas, sabihin na natin ngayon,” the Unkabogable star said, a sentiment echoed by his co-hosts.
Vice Ganda playfully touched upon the tendency of reporters to speak positively about individuals only after they have passed away, suggesting that expressing love and appreciation should not be reserved for eulogies but should be done while people are alive to hear and appreciate it. He urged a shift toward talking about love and using positive language, especially in the context of relationships and interactions with the media.
“Ako kasi parang… gusto, hangga’t buhay ako ma-enjoy ko yung puwede kong ma-enjoy kasi pag wala tayo, hindi na natin mai-enjoy iyan.
“Ang dami nating sinasabing hindi magaganda sa isa’t isa. Bakit hindi natin i-try ng magsalita ng magaganda, di ba?
“Diyos ko! Iyong parang sa mga news, iyong mga reporter, pag buhay ka, kung anu-anong sinasabi sa iyo, di ba, ng mga reporter?
“Pero pag namatay ka, ano iyan, the legend in Philippine showbiz, an icon, one of the best. Sus! Pero nung nabubuhay, kung anu-anong tsismis ang sinulat mo, di ba?
“Let’s talk about love, speak about love, speak of love, speak for love, speak with love, speak to love, at kung ano mang preposition yan basta may love, di ba?”
