Here’s the reaction of Tarantadong Kalbo to the resort built in the middle of Chocolate Hills
TARANTADONG KALBO – The cartoonist reacted to the resort built in the middle of Chocolate Hills in Bohol.
The ‘Chocolate Hills’ became a hot topic on the social media platform X due to a newly built resort in the area, which many believe could ruin the beautiful view of this famous tourist spot in the Philippines. The resort, clearly visible from above, received criticism from internet users who questioned its legality and impact on the protected landscape.
This prompted online users to bring the issue to the attention of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the local government of Bohol. They wanted to know if the resort had the necessary permits to operate in the area. Many people were upset and surprised, considering the Chocolate Hills’ status as a National Geological Monument and a proposed UNESCO World Heritage site. Despite the concerns raised by internet users and local officials, there has been no response from either the DENR or the owner of the resort.
Tarantadong Kalbo, a cartoonist, has reacted to the issue. On Facebook, he posted a comic related to the resort built in the middle of the Chocolate Hills. In his artwork, the words “What the fudge” were written.
His post immediately generated mixed reactions from netizens. One netizen wrote: “What an EYESORE!
A certain Karla Obispo said: “Wala na, sira na! Sinong nag-approve nito? Tingin nyo mapapasama pa tayo sa Wonders of the World pag dumami tong mga eyesore na to?”
Meanwhile, Tarantadong Kalbo is a comic created by Kevin Raymundo, a visual artist and animator. Tarantadong Kalbo uses simple illustrations and pop culture references and personalities to feature commentaries and make necessary noise on current events and social issues.
