JACLYN JOSE – Actor Gardo Versoza shared a tribute to his friend veteran multi-awarded actress Jacklyn Jose.

Jaclyn Jose, originally known as Mary Jane Santa Ana Guck, was a highly acclaimed actress in both the world of dramatic films and television, earning numerous accolades for her performances. Notably, she etched her name in history as the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to secure the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival, thanks to her compelling portrayal of a matriarch and meth dealer in Brillante Mendoza’s Ma’ Rosa.

Additionally, she received three Gawad Urian Best Actress nominations for her outstanding roles in Takaw Tukso (1987), Itanong Mo Sa Buwan (1989), and Sarong Banggi (2006).

Embarking on her acting journey in 1984 with William Pascual’s Chicas and Chito Roño’s Private Show, Jaclyn Jose went on to shine in critically acclaimed films like The Flor Contemplacion Story, Patay na si Hesus, and Kalel, 15. Her presence extended to notable television shows such as Maalaala Mo Kaya, Valiente, and Marimar. Her final on-screen appearance was as Chief Dolores Espinas in the series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

On the evening of Sunday, March 3, several media outlets reported the sorrowful news of Jaclyn’s passing at the age of 59. PPL Entertainment Incorporated, her talent agency, officially confirmed her death through a social media post.

Gardo Versoza is among the celebrities grieving the loss of the seasoned actress Jaclyn Jose. In response to this heart-wrenching news, Gardo shared a reel on his Instagram account, featuring photos capturing some of his treasured moments with Jaclyn.

Alongside the brief video, the actor conveyed his emotions with a short yet affectionate message dedicated to the late actress, affectionately calling her “Abe.” Gardo’s caption simply reads, “Labyu abe.”
