Governor of Bohol Reacts to Captain’s Peak Resort in Chocolate Hills
CHOCOLATE HILLS ISSUE – The governor of Bohol stated that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 7 will issue a cease and desist order against Captain’s Peak Resort in Bohol.
The new resort in the ‘Chocolate Hills’ has sparked a lot of discussion on social media platform X. Many people are concerned that it might spoil the beautiful view of this famous tourist spot in the Philippines. The resort, which is easily visible from above, has been criticized by internet users who questioned its legality and potential harm to the protected environment.
This prompted online users to notify the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the local government of Bohol. They wanted to ascertain if the resort had the necessary permits to operate there.
On Facebook, controversial social media personality Xian Gaza called the attention of Bohol Governor Erico Aris Aumentado to take action on the issue. Earlier, he posted a message on FB, saying: “Governor Erico Aris Aumentado, baka pwede po ipasara mo yung resort sa gitna ng Chocolate Hills?” He added: “Ako lang po yung may lakas ng loob na mag-tag sayo kaya ginawa ko na. Sana po dinggin niyo kami.”
The governor of Bohol immediately replied to his post. According to him, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 7 will issue a cease and desist order against Captain’s Peak Resort. “DENR7 RD Melichor will issue cease and desist order of the resort. Ty,” the governor wrote. Gaza, on the other hand, thanked the governor for the quick response.
Meanwhile, the Bohol Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Protection confirmed that Captain’s Peak Resort is located within the Chocolate Hills Natural Monument in Sagbayan, Bohol. It is adjacent to the Chocolate Hills in Carmen, Bohol.
