Unaware Student Goes to School Despite Chinese New Year

An unaware student from La Carlota City College goes to school despite class suspension due to Chinese New Year.

Last month, Malacañang Palace issued Proclamation No. 453 declaring Friday, February 9, 2024, a special non-working day throughout the country for the celebration of the Chinese New Year. The President and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamation.

Proclamation No. 368 also declared declared February 10, 2024, (Chinese New Year), Saturday, as a special non-working day throughout the country.

Recently, James Delicano, a Facebook user, shared photos of himself heading to school unaware of class suspension due to Chinese New Year. The post spread like wildfire on social media and elicited reactions from netizens.

The government declared February 9, 2024 (Friday) as a special non-working day in observance of the Chinese New Year.

According to his post, James had already put on his uniform and made his way to the Ceres terminal in La Carlota to go to his school at Planters. However, he later realized that there were no classes scheduled for the day.
