Bong Revilla to Run for Senator Again in 2025

Bong Revilla: “I’m running for reelection”

BONG REVILLA – The senator has announced that he will be running for senator again in the 2025 midterm elections.

Bong Revilla, also known as Ramon Bautista Bong Revilla Jr., is a Filipino actor, director, producer, television presenter, and politician. He is currently serving as a Senator since 2019, previously holding the position from 2004 to 2016. His career in politics began in Cavite, where he served as vice governor from 1995 to 1998 and later as governor from 1998 to 2001.

His acting career flourished during the 1980s and 1990s, primarily in action films, often starring alongside his father, actor-politician Ramon Revilla Sr. He also appeared in comedy films and television shows with GMA Network. However, his acting career was interrupted due to his involvement in graft and plunder charges related to the Napoles pork barrel scam. Despite legal challenges, Revilla made a comeback to acting in 2019 with GMA Network’s drama fantasy series “Agimat ng Agila.”

In his political career, Revilla has been elected to the Senate twice, first in 2004 and then in 2010, serving until 2016. He has chaired various Senate committees and has been active in advocating for road safety, social justice, lower taxes, community empowerment, and infrastructure development. Revilla faced legal challenges and was acquitted of plunder in 2018 but still faces graft charges.

The senator has announced that he will be running for senator again in the 2025 midterm elections. “Next year panahon na ng pangangampanya uli. I’m running for reelection. Akala n’yo ibang posisyon,” said Sen. Bong in “Marisol Academy” on Telebtabloid on Feb. 8.

Recently, Revilla showcased a photo of himself with fellow senators Lito Lapid and Robin Padilla. Also in the photo with them is Kapamilya actor Coco Martin. “Ayos na,” Revilla captioned the photo. It is said to be for a movie intended for the Metro Manila Film Festival. According to Revilla, he wants their movie with Lapid, Padilla, and Martin to be part of the MMFF.
