Pinoy Big Brother is rumored to be returning via GMA
PINOY BIG BROTHER – The reality show might be making a comeback on GMA Network according to rumors circulating in the entertainment industry.
The speculation arose during a recent episode of “Showbiz Update” on February 20, where discussions hinted at a possible collaboration between ABS-CBN and GMA for the famous reality show.
Showbiz insider Ogie Diaz expressed hope about the possibility of collaboration, comparing it to the tune of “Unbreak My Heart.” He highlighted the importance of ABS-CBN’s shift to ABS-CBN Studios due to its lack of franchise, making it a content creator alongside its production of teleseryes. Diaz noted the prevailing trend of mergers in the industry, including ABS-CBN’s partnerships with TV5 and GMA, while emphasizing the network’s digital presence through platforms like iWant TV and iWantTFC.
“Nakakatuwa kung magkakatuluyan ang GMA at ABS-CBN again. Studios na ang ABS-CBN kaya ABS-CBN Studios. Kasi syempre ang ABS-CBN walang prangkisa. So, content creator din sila. Nagpo-produce rin sila ng mga teleserye,” he said. “Nakiki-merge sila with TV5, with GMA. Gano’n ang uso ngayon. Lalo na may platform din sa digital ang ABS-CBN, ‘yong iWant TV at iwanTFC,” he added.
However, amid the speculation, Ogie Diaz refrained from confirming whether “Pinoy Big Brother” would air directly on GMA or its sister station, GTV. He urged viewers to await official announcements, refraining from speculation.
The uncertainty prompted Ogie Diaz’s co-host, Mrena, to humorously comment on the nature of premature confirmations, referencing a past incident. Notably, before the confirmation of “It’s Showtime” relocating to GTV following its TV5 stint, Ogie had previously reported on this development through his vlog in June 2023.
“Pinoy Big Brother” has been a staple on ABS-CBN since its inception in 2005, with its latest installment, Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10, airing between 2021-2022. As discussions surrounding its potential move to GMA surface, viewers eagerly await official announcements regarding the future of the beloved reality show.
