Did you know that one of the avid viewers of ‘It’s Showtime’ is MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto?
LALA SOTTO – The chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) admitted that, as the head of the board, she has to monitor television programs, such as the noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
In an interview with PEP, Sotto mentioned that she enjoyed watching the new segment of ‘It’s Showtime.’ To recall, the show was suspended by MTRCB from October 14 to October 27, 2023, due to multiple violations, particularly the “icing incident” involving partners Vice Ganda and Ion Perez.
The segment “EXpecially For You” features a guest player/searchee trying their luck in finding new love. Here’s the exciting twist – the player’s ex also makes an appearance to help their former flame choose a potential love interest among the searches. In the said segment, hosts express their thoughts and opinions on love, relationships, and moving on, resonating with the viewers.
Sotto also mentioned that the ‘It’s Showtime’ staff is very cooperative, even making courtesy calls to their office. As of now, they haven’t observed any issues that warrant a warning for the program. When asked if she has met or faced Vice Ganda, Sotto admitted that they haven’t met and have never encountered each other personally. On a personal note, Sotto expressed happiness about TVJ’s recovery of the “Eat Bulaga” title from TAPE, Inc., a show originated by TVJ.
Diorella Maria “Lala” Sotto-Antonio is the Chairperson of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). She is the daughter of former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and was appointed to her position under the Marcos administration, taking office on July 7, 2022.
