Mark Bautista Reveals He Was S*xually Abused by Family Member
MARK BAUTISTA – Pinoy singer-actor Mark Bautista recently disclosed that he was s*xually abused by a family member.
Mark Bautista admitted his bisexuality in January 2018 through his published work, “Beyond the Mark,” sparking controversy with his revelations. At 40, he has yet to engage in a romantic relationship with a woman but remains open to the idea.
In an interview with Karen Davila on ABS-CBN’s YouTube channel released on February 8, 2024, the singer expressed that he is open to the idea of being in a relationship with a woman and desire to start a family.
Furthermore, Mark Bautista disclosed that he had experienced abuse from a family member during his youth, speculating that it may have influenced his sense of identity.
Reflecting on this, he pondered how his life might have unfolded differently if such events had not occurred, questioning who he might have become.
“Nung time na yon, may point sa buhay ko na kinukuwestiyon ko, ‘Kung hindi nangyari sa akin yon, sino kaya ang Mark ngayon? Baka ibang tao siya.’
“May naisip pa ako na, ‘I’m sorry Mark na bata, na nangyari sa yo yun. You were so helpless, hindi mo rin naman alam. Sorry kung may nag-grab sa yo na something sa childhood mo.’”
In January 2020, during the funeral of Mark Bautista’s late father, he found himself face-to-face once more with the individual who had previously subjected him to abuse. The singer said, “Nung namatay yung papa ko, nandoon siya. Bumisita sila, yung family niya.
“I think, napatawad ko na siya. Whatever happens, I’m okay, a-accept ko lahat.
“Kung anuman ang mangyari, kung hindi na ako tatanggapin sa showbiz o wala nang show, ready ako.”
Mark Bautista is thankful for the unwavering support of his loving parents, who, despite being surprised by the revelations in his book, wholeheartedly embraced his identity.
“Nagulat sila kasi dun lang nila nalaman nung pagkadating ko and nung sinabi ko na magre-release ako ng ganoon [libro].
“Si Mama naman, I think may mother’s instinct na nilapitan niya ako sa bed, tumabi siya sa akin. Sabi niya, ‘It’s okay. Whatever happens, I still love you. Anak pa rin kita.’
“Si Papa naman, walang problema.
“Dun naman talaga ako masuwerte sa parents ko, never silang nagtanong, never silang nag-question.
“Never silang nag-judge. Madali sa kanilang tanggapin.”
