Jennica Garcia on her acting career
JENNICA GARCIA – The actress said that her separation from her husband, actor Alwyn Uytingco, led her back to acting.
Her mother, veteran actress Jean Garcia, asked her in an interview on “Stars On Stars” at what point she realized that she loved or wanted to act.
According to Jennica, her separation from her husband made her realize a deeper love for acting after years of hiatus from the showbiz industry to focus on her family.
The actress also explained that even though she had been acting before, she was just doing it for the money. However, she said she feels differently toward the showbiz industry now that she has returned full-time.
“Dati kasi parang wala lang ako ibang alam gawin. Marami akong alam gawin, I’m sorry. Parang marami akong alam gawin para maging means ng money, but for some reason pag-aartista ‘yung alam ko na pinaka malaking amount,” she said. “Then after, ‘yung pagbalik ko last year, doon ko nalaman [na gusto ko pala talaga mag-act.”

Aside from this, the actress also weighed in on her new-found responsibility to consider acting more seriously. She noted that being able to provide for her children is what drives her to work.
In the same interview, Jennica reflected on being the daughter of an actress who already has a name in the showbiz industry, which she believes has made things somehow easier for her. She shared that being the daughter of a veteran actress is one of the things she’s really grateful for.
It was last February 2023 when Jennica Garcia confirmed her separation from Alwyn Uytingco despite their efforts at reconciliation. They have two daughters named Athena and Severina.
In an interview with Inquirer last September 2023, she shared that her weakness is receiving words of affirmation.
