Alden Richards on rumors about his gender identity
ALDEN RICHARDS – The Asia’s Multimedia Star recently gave a reaction about the rumors about his gender identity.
The actor appeared in Toni Gonzaga’s “Toni Talks” episode titled “What Alden Is Tired Hearing About”. According to the actor, he’s tired of hearing rumors about him being labeled as “gay” because he’s not in a relationship with anyone.
Alden added he simply lets people believe what they want to believe. The actor noted that “some people tend to abuse kindness”, but he already reached a point in his career where he got tired of being a “people pleaser”.
The “Family of Two” actor also said that it’s easy for people to judge a gender identity of a celebrity, especially for men when they are not in a relationship.
“Tingin niyo bading, fine. Ang iniisip ko nga minsan, ‘pag may ganu’ng mga rumors, ‘wala na bang iba?’” he said. “‘Yung judgment call sa gender ng mga kalalakihan sa industriya natin, ang dali just because of that fact. But, ako po, parang, pupunta ba ako sa route na ‘yun dahil gusto ko nanaman mang please?”
Alden shared that he no longer answers rumors because he’s contended with his life and he’s “perfectly happy” with what he has and what he’s able to do at the moment. He added that he seized every opportunity and there’s time for a love life.
In the same interview, he clarified that the rumors about him being married to Maine Mendoza were baseless.

The actor said he and Maine never got married and don’t have a love child, adding that he’s at the point where he wouldn’t stop AlDub fans from posting if it brought them happiness. According to him, he supports the happiness of people.
Alden starred in a Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Family of Two” with Megastar Sharon Cuneta. The actor is also set to have a busy 2024 as he’s one of the stars of GMA Network’s upcoming biggest historical drama titled “Pulang Araw”.
