QCPD trends amid the passing of Ronaldo Valdez

RONALDO VALDEZ – Netizens questioned why it has to be QCPD confirming the veteran actor’s sudden passing.

Ronaldo passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 76. His death was confirmed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). However, the cause of his death has yet to be disclosed.

He is survived by his wife Maria Fe Gibbs and two children, including the well-known actor and comedian Janno Gibbs. While his family has yet to give an official statement regarding his passing, some netizens question why it has to be QCPD confirming his passing.

Currently, his name is trending on social media, particularly on the microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter), with over 1k posts. Most of the netizens are questioning why it has to be QCPD confirming his death. One netizen claimed that if QCPD confirmed his death, there must be foul play. “If QCPD confirms the death of Lolo Sir “Ronaldo Valdez” then a crime happened. It’s simple as that. But i hope he’ll find peace still,” a netizen wrote.

Meanwhile, according to a Daily Tribune report, there are indications that Valdez might have taken his own life. He had been battling depression since undergoing a prostate cancer operation in December 2022 at Cardinal Santos Hospital.

On Sunday afternoon, Valdez’s driver, Angelito Oclarit, discovered his lifeless body in Unit 25 Casa Nueva Homes, No. 15 Manga Street, Barangay Mariana, New Manila, Quezon City. Valdez was found seated, bloodied, with a gun still in one hand.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives from QCPD Forensic Unit, led by P/Cpt. Adhrin Domingo, recovered a caliber .45 Norinco pistol with serial number 454697, along with an empty magazine, a fired cartridge case, and a gun case containing an empty magazine beside the deceased.

Upon further examination, it was revealed that the actor had gunshot wounds on both his right and left temple, suggesting a possible suicide. However, QCPD Director P/Brig. Gen. Red Maranan emphasized that confirmation of the incident as a suicide awaits the results of laboratory tests. “May inintay pa result ng lab exam from SOCO, before we can conclude,” stated Maranan.
