Jam Magno Turns Herself Over to the Police
JAM MAGNO – The social media personality and vocal Duterte supporter turned herself over to the Butuan City Police Station on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
Magno is a social media personality who gained popularity for expressing opinions on various issues involving celebrities and renowned personalities, including politicians. Jam became notably known for criticizing Rabiya Mateo, a candidate in the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 pageant. Magno expressed disappointment with Mateo’s performances, particularly during the national costume and preliminary rounds.
Despite Magno’s criticism, Rabiya Mateo secured a place among the Top 21 finalists but did not win the Miss Universe title at the time. The controversy around Magno’s critiques extended to the point where the incumbent Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas considered declaring her a “persona non-grata.”
On Tuesday, internet personality and vocal Duterte supporter Jessica Ann “Jam” Magno turned herself over to the Butuan City police station. She surrendered under a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ali Joseph Ryan Chiong Lloren of the Cagayan de Oro Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 37.
This was in connection to the alleged violation of RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (VAWC). Eventually, Magno was granted temporary liberty after posting a bail of P72,000.
In a Facebook post, Jam Magno explained why she was smiling in her mugshot. According to her, she’s smiling because she was “NOT guilty.” She also stressed that she was not arrested but rather surrendered. She’s also proud that she did not ask for a discount in posting her bail.
She even thanked the Butuan City Police Station 4 for the “wonderful experience,” noting that she “actually loved it.” She also expressed her gratitude to the Barangay Captain of Barangay Ampayon for the fast processing of her bail.
