Here’s the reaction of Michelle Dee to the apology of Miss Universe El Salvador
MICHELLE DEE – The Miss Universe Philippines 2023 reacted to the apology of Miss Universe El Salvador about their mistake in announcing the Top 5.
The team behind the Miss Universe El Salvador Instagram page has issued an apology to the two “finalists” from the recently concluded Miss Universe 2023, specifically Miss Philippines Michelle Dee and Miss Thailand Anntonia Porsild, although they were not explicitly named.
Miss Universe El Salvador acknowledged their mistake in a post on their Instagram page dated November 23, 2023: “Our mistake! In the rush to get our posts up during Saturday’s live broadcast, we accidentally mixed up the names of two finalists. This was a simple error of moving too fast – we heard the same results live at the same time that you all did, no special access over here! We’re sorry to both finalists.”
Before the official announcement of the Top 5 in Miss Universe 2023, @missuniversosv had shared a list on their Instagram page. According to their list, the Top 5 included Miss Australia Moraya Wilson, Miss Puerto Rico Karla Guilfú, Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Philippines Michelle Dee, and Miss Colombia Camila Avella.
However, during the actual announcement, Michelle’s name was missing, and Anntonia was announced as part of the Top 5. Hosts Maria Menounos, Olivia Culpo, and Jeannie Mai declared the official Top 5, which consisted of Miss Australia Moraya Wilson, Miss Puerto Rico Karla Guilfú, Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Thailand Anntonia Porsild, and Miss Colombia Camila Avella.
Miss Universe El Salvador promptly replaced their initial art card and updated it based on the live coronation announcement. Michelle, currently in Mexico, reacted to the apology through her Instagram Broadcast Channel.
“There should be no room for error but the reality is that we live in an imperfect world. My request is not just to be respectful to the delegates but to the supporters that are so passionate about this platform as well. But again, EVERYTHING happens for a reason and it’s just a matter of seeing it as a lesson or a blessing. So always act with love, kindness, and respect. All love. My thoughts on the viral post earlier today,” she said.
