MC and Lassy were slapped by Maricel Soriano
MARICEL SORIANO – The Diamond Star gave a sample of her slap to MC and Lassy during her appearance on It’s Showtime.
Maricel is a highly acclaimed actress and television personality, often referred to as the “Diamond Star.” Known for her intense acting style and versatility, Soriano gained prominence in the late ’80s to mid-’90s as a leading box-office star. Throughout her career spanning over five decades, she has received numerous accolades, including Asian Television Awards, FAMAS Awards, Luna Awards, Box Office Entertainment Awards, and Star Awards for Television.
Soriano began her career as a child actress in the 1971 film “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” and continued to build her reputation with supporting roles in the 1970s. She achieved success in the early ’80s as one of the first Regal Babies, starring in blockbuster films like “Inday Bote” (1985) and “Babaing Hampaslupa” (1989). Soriano also remained visible on television through her drama anthologies, earning Best Actress nominations for acclaimed portrayals in various films.
Soriano’s career saw significant milestones in the 1980s, partnering with William Martinez in successful projects like “Oh, My Mama!” and starring in hit musical-variety TV shows. The 1990s marked her breakthrough as the “Diamond Star,” with critically acclaimed and blockbuster films like “Ikaw Pa Lang ang Minahal” (1992) and “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” (1994). She continued her success in the 2000s with films like “Mano Po” (2002) and “A Love Story” (2007) and the top-rating sitcom “Kaya ni Mister, Kaya ni Misis.”
Soriano faced a two-year hiatus in 2009 but made a comeback in the 2010s, freelancing and eventually joining GMA Network. Her return included notable projects like the television series “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real” (2014).
Earlier, she appeared on the noontime show, It’s Showtime, wherein she slapped MC and Lassy on the “It’s Showtime”. During her appearance to promote Maricel’s movie “In His Mother’s Eyes,” the Diamond Star showcased her unparalleled skill in drama.
