It was on July 22, 2023, when she attended the GMA Ball. At that time, she became controversial due to the jewelry she wore. According to cultural critic and independent curator Marian Pastor Roces, Beauty’s jewelry came from the dead or a ‘death mask,’ which was used to cover the eyes and mouth of the deceased before burial during ancient times.

Roces claimed that the 32-year-old actress was paying homage to grave robbers, not ‘Philippine ancestral gold.’ Apparently, even if Beauty’s jewelry was ‘legally excavated,’ it should have been housed in the National Museum or the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

After four months, Beauty Gonzalez finally addressed the issue. “Well, it’s better that I didn’t talk coz it’s a very unending conversation. I respect what she believes, I respect also what I believe, and I only wish world peace,” she said.

Beauty Gonzalez made the remark during the mediacon of the GMA-7 series ‘Stolen Life,’ where she’s one of the main cast members. When asked if she would wear the controversial jewelry again, she said, “Yes, definitely. And you should watch for more!”
