Mickey Ablan and Janna Dominguez – The couple expressed their deep regret over the untimely passing of their daughter, Yzabel Ablan.

Mickey is plagued with self-blame over the loss of his eldest child, while Janna deeply mourns the fact that she wasn’t beside her before she took her last breath. Yzabel passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, due to a lung infection and heart failure at just twenty years old. In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph, Mickey and Janna shared their thoughts on their daughter’s sudden departure.

Mickey was asked about Yzabel’s medical history, particularly in response to a comment by broadcaster Korina Sanchez on PEP.ph’s Instagram post regarding Yzabel’s unexpected passing. Korina had remarked that the doctor appeared to be liable, and the lack of appropriate medical checks was unacceptable. Mickey couldn’t provide a clear answer.

Mickey stated, “Kasi yung ka-online checkup niya, alam na may lupus siya, alam na galing siya sa brain surgery. Ako naman, hindi ko sinisisi yung doctor, pero nasa isip ko din, at the back of my mind, na sana kinonsider din ng doctor, yung nag-online checkup sa kanya, na ‘Pumunta ka ng ER, magpa-checkup ka na sa doctor… Magpa-X-ray ka na, ganito, ganyan. Kasi, ano klaseng checkup? Parang mag-usap lang kayo online.”

They also mentioned that there were times when they worried that Yzabel might suddenly have an asthma attack. They noted that the checkups primarily consisted of blood tests, and as parents, they felt confident because she preferred being independent and managing her medical matters herself.

Yzabel, their first child, was born out of Mickey’s previous relationship, but Janna formed a close mother-daughter bond with her. Yzabel is regarded as the firstborn among the three daughters Janna and Mickey share, including Micael and Julliann Gabriel. Yzabel was known for her warmth and approachability, which is why they were surprised at the outpouring of condolences and support from many who attended her wake.
