Here’s an apology of Chinkee Tan for his insensitive post on his canceled Israel trip
CHINKEE TAN – The financial expert, wealth coach, and motivational speaker turned to social media wherein he apologized for his insensitive post over a canceled trip to Israel.
In a post, possibly initially shared on LinkedIn and later removed, Chinkee opened up about their supposed trip to Israel but chaos erupted. He expressed gratitude for their safety and prompted readers to consider what might have happened “if war broke out when we were there.”
He went on to emphasize the importance of trusting in God’s timing and goodness, even when circumstances seem unexplainable. He acknowledged that we may question why things occur but asserted that God continually watches over us. While our plans may encounter delays, believing in God’s guidance ensures that His plan for us will eventually come to fulfillment.
However, this perspective did not sit well with those who read the post, as many on social media interpreted it as insensitive and dismissive of the hardships faced by those directly affected by the crisis. The post was even mocked in the “LinkedIn Memes For Go Getter Teens” Facebook group for its perceived “main character syndrome” tone.
Subsequently, the motivational speaker issued an apology on X (formerly known as Twitter), acknowledging the insensitivity of his post. Notably, his apology is absent from his official Facebook page, which boasts a much larger following of over 5 million users.
“I deeply regret my previous post where I expressed insensitivity regarding the cancellation of our trip to Israel. I thank you for calling my attention and I apologize for what may have seemed as a thoughtless response. I am truly sorry for any hurt or offense I caused to those affected by my words. I take full responsibility for my mistake and acknowledge that it was wrong,” he noted. “I would like to pray for peace for everyone affected by conflicts, in Israel, in Palestine, and the rest of the world,” he added.
