Rice supply and prices are expected to stabilize during the harvest season this September and October. Thus, Executive Order No. 39 issued August 31 on the rice price cap may be lifted soon.

Government agencies had already distributed cash aid to small-scale rice retailers who were affected by EO 39. In a press release, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said that the provision of this assistance is in line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Said order was aimed at assisting small-scale business owners who have been directly impacted by the imposition of rice price ceilings.

Both the cash assistance and the executive order on rice price ceilings have gained support and appreciation from affected groups all over the country.

In another statement, the PCO said that PBBM vowed on Monday to maximize the use of new technology to ensure a stable supply of rice in the Philippines that is accessible and affordable to Filipinos. “There’s a necessary amount of work to be done for us to be able to, I say, take the new technology from the laboratory to the rice field, and that is where we now come in,” the President said.
