MJ Felipe Reveals Dream Before He Became Showbiz Reporter

MJ Felipe: “Growing up, I really wanted to be an astronaut.”

MJ FELIPE – The entertainment news correspondent recently revealed what his dream was before he became a showbiz reporter.

He appeared on the latest episode of Kapamilya morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” to mark his 20th year in the showbiz industry as a showbiz reporter. Aside from this, he also celebrated his birthday in “Magandang Buhay” as well.

In an interview, MJ said that he wanted to become an astronaut because his aunt knows someone who works at NASA in the United States and she told him to take a college course related to his dream.

According to him, he was left alone in the Philippines when the papers to go to the United States didn’t reach him. He went on to say that he may not be studying the stars but he’s working with the stars.

Yung family namin, meron talaga siyang petition papunta ng Amerika. So sabi niya, ‘O, gusto mo mag astronaut? Mag-take ka ng course ng college na related doon,” he said. “Yung papers hindi umabot sa akin. Kaya ang buong family ko napunta sa Amerika. Ako ‘yung naiwan mag-isa.

MJ also said that he took Physics course at De La Salle University and after he graduated in college, he worked as a call center agent. According to him, he started getting into ABS-CBN when he auditioned – and won – a competition to become a showbiz writer in 2004.

Some of his unforgettable showbiz news during the 20 years in the industry are the following: the secret wedding of Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo, and the issue between Bea Alonzo, Gerald Anderson and Julia Barretto.

MJ also said that facing international artists is a different challenge for him as a showbiz reporter.

The showbiz reporter is the eldest of three siblings and his family has always been his inspiration in what he does. He shared that he chose to work in the Philippines even though he had the opportunity to live in the United States.

Nakakatuwa lang na they’re living their best lives din sa Amerika. I think napalaki kami ng mga magulang namin to be independent at tumayo sa sarili naming mga paa,” he said. “Kumbaga pinatatag na ako ng panahon kaya ang pagmamahal ko sa trabaho ko ay iba rin.
