KaladKaren Throws Shade After Reporting: “Hindi po ito AI!”

After reporting, KaladKaren threw shade at AI

KALADKAREN – The recent statement made by the showbiz news reader of “Frontline Pilipinas,” whose real name is Jervi Li, has become a topic of discussion.

In the live newscast of Frontline Pilipinas on September 25, after reporting news about Kathryn Bernardo and Dolly De Leon, KaladKaren stated that she is not AI or “Artificial Intelligence.” She said, “Abangan po bukas ang mas maiinit na K-alaman at showbiz balita. Hindi po ito AI! Ako po si KaladKaren.”

The first transgender newscaster in the Philippines shared a video clip of this moment, which was subsequently shared by a user on X. Towards the end of the newscast, resident sportscaster Tito Mikee Reyes made a playful remark, suggesting that they should pinch KaladKaren to check if she might be AI. KaladKaren responded, saying, “Totoong tao po ako, mga Kapatid.”

Meanwhile, the introduction of AI sportscasters by GMA Network for the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament on September 24 has generated significant backlash on social media with many expressing concern, disappointment, and unease.

One user pointed out that there are numerous skilled human sportscasters capable of performing brilliantly in these roles and expressed worry that AI might lack the ability to convey the emotional intensity and human drama that are integral to sports, potentially reducing viewer engagement.

Another user emphasized the indirect discouragement this move might have on Mass Communication students who aspire to pursue careers in sports broadcasting. This sentiment was echoed by several other comments, indicating a shared sense of concern.

Even rising PBA star Javee Mocon, who occasionally comments on NCAA games, humorously quipped in Filipino to fellow pro baller Rey Nambatac, “We no longer have jobs,” highlighting the potential impact on human sportscasters.
