Juan Ponce Enrile slams Vice Ganda
JUAN PONCE ENRILE – The Chief Presidential Legal Counsel strongly criticized TV host-comedian Vice Ganda, calling him “bastos” and “abusado.”
Enrile has responded to the 12-day suspension order issued by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) against “It’s Showtime.” This suspension stems from the cake-icing incident that occurred during the “Isip Bata” segment on July 25, where violations were committed by the comedian and his partner, Ion Perez, on the program.
The lawyer of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Jr. characterized Vice and Ion’s actions as “salacious.” What aggravated the situation was that children were exposed to their behavior. “Ang problema dito sa bansa natin kung meron kang power, political, social, economic or whatever, halos hindi mo na iniisip ‘yung kapwa,” Enrile stated on his program on SMNI News last Saturday.
Enrile also mentioned that he had been observing Vice on TV for a long time and never liked his style of humor. “Hindi lang walang decency kundi abusado. Alam ko na mapagpatawa yang binabanggit mo na babae (Vice) magmula pa ng araw ganyan na yan… you’re earning your living and popularity sa kabastusan.
Meanwhile, ABS-CBN asserted that their noontime show did not violate any laws, and they intend to appeal to the MTRCB for reconsideration of its resolution. If their motion for reconsideration is denied, they can further appeal to the Office of the President.
