Netizens claim that the remark made by a contestant on E.A.T. has a “double meaning”
E.A.T – The remark made by a Vortas contestant, which some netizens claimed had a double meaning, has gained attention online. Vortas 5 is a dance contest open to both men and gay men who are good-looking and physically fit, and it premiered last July.
Amid the heated discussions surrounding the suspension of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on “It’s Showtime,” the words of a man interviewed by Allan K and Miles Ocampo on the noontime show “E.A.T.” quickly caught the attention of netizens.
Allan K asked one of the “Vortas” what he was currently doing, to which the man replied that he used to be an elementary teacher. The studio audience could be heard reacting with excitement.
Miles commented, “Magaling sa bata ‘to.” Allan K added, “Mapagpasensya. Mahaba ang pasensya.” The man affirmed, saying, “Opo mahaba ‘to.”
A noticeable, brief, and somewhat awkward silence followed, after which the hosts swiftly changed the topic. Allan K promptly clarified that they were discussing the contestant’s patience and playfully tapped the man’s arm. Miles interjected, attempting to smoothen the situation, saying, “Mahaba ang pasensya siyempre bata ‘yon…”
The man was seen covering his mouth, seemingly looking at someone who may have reprimanded him. Currently, it has become a topic of discussion on social media. A clip of the exchange was shared by an account named “Anima Cristi Fermin,” along with the caption, “Mahaba to’ Walang malisya yan. Pwede sa mga jugets na nanonood. Lala at MTRCB walang makitang double meaning!”
Meanwhile, the MTRCB has faced accusations of bias after imposing a 12-day suspension on “It’s Showtime.” However, in an official statement released by the agency, they clarified that their decision regarding the noontime program underwent due process. In fact, MTRCB Chairman Lala Sotto allegedly did not participate in the voting on this matter.
As of now, there has been no response or statement from the management of “E.A.T.,” TV5, or the MTRCB regarding the contestant’s “double meaning” remark.
