Rendon Labador has a message to Pura Luka Vega after several LGUs declared him Persona Non Grata
RENDON LABADOR – The motivational speaker wanted the controversial drag artist Pura Luka Vega to be expelled from the Philippines.
Vega, the controversial drag performer whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagente, is currently gaining attention online after several local government units (LGUs) declared him “Persona Non Grata.”
This was in connection with his viral video, in which he sang and danced to a remix version of “Ama Namin” while dressed as Jesus Christ. The video quickly went viral and drew reactions from various politicians and members of religious groups.
According to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), his actions can be considered “mockery” and “blasphemous.” His performance was also criticized by Geraldine Roman, the representative of the 1st District of Bataan and an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.
However, the drag queen stood by his controversial performance, stating that it is a “form of art and expression.” He also emphasized that this was his way of praising God.
Because of the video, several LGUs decided to declare him persona non grata. This prompted him to question what exactly he did wrong. According to him, he’s open to a dialogue, yet cities have been declaring him persona non grata “without even knowing me or understanding the intent of the performance.”
Among those who reacted to the issue is motivational speaker Rendon Labador. On his Instagram Stories, he noted: “Naka pag decide na ako, I want Pura Luka Vega out of the Philippines now!”
Meanwhile, some netizens have been rallying on social media, advocating that Pura Luka Vega should not only be banned in certain cities or municipalities but in the entire Philippines.
