The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) offers several types of benefits for its members. Among these are the Retirement Benefit where the monthly pension belongs and the Separation Benefit which was crafted for the members who got separated from their work prior to retirement.
The GSIS allows the application for claim under the Separation Benefit offer by members who got separated from work before their retirement but have been in the service for at least three years but less than 15 years, and below 60 years of age or in the service for at least 15 years and is below 60 years of age.

- Declaration of Pendency/ Non-Pendency of Case (DPNPC) form (date administered/ notarized should be on or after receipt of notification from GSIS
- Service Record with Leave without Pay (LWOP) Certification (indicating specific time and dates of LWOP)

However, there is an extended list of GSIS Separation Benefit requirements for applications that will be done through email. Here are the documents that you must prepare:

- Clear photo of the 2 valid IDs (front and back)
- Clear photo of the borrower holding the 2 valid ID cards

- Service Record with Leave without Pay (LWOP) Certification (indicating specific time and dates of LWOP)
In the event that the GSIS member passed away during the duration of processing the Separation Benefit claim, the grant will be given to his/her legal heirs. The GSIS member who got separated from work before his/her retirement must process the claim within four (4) years since the separation from work.
